Copyrights and License Agreement
────────────────────────────────────
- Users of the BBE-package must accept this disclaimer of warranty:
- The BBE-package is supplied as is. The author disclaims all
warranties, expressed or implied, including, without limitation,
the warranties of merchantability and of fitness for any purpose.
The author assumes no liability for damages, direct or consequential,
which may result from the use of the BBE-package;
- The BBE-package is a "shareware program" and is provided at no charge
to the user for evaluation. Feel free to share it with your friends,
but please do not give it away altered or as part of another system.
The essence of "user-supported" software is to provide personal com-
puter users with quality software without high prices, and yet to
provide incentive for programmers to continue to develop new products.
- If you find this program useful and find that you are using and con-
tinue the use of the BBE-package after a 30 days trial period, you
must register the BBE-package as described below. With this regis-
tration you also 'unlock' the memory-requirements of the DOS-shell;
- Non-commercial can get a license for the usage up to this release
of the BBE-package for US $ 15,--. This ONLY gives you the right
of using the software and will unlock the DOS-shell, so you will
have full memory available while you are inside the DOS- shell.
For Non-commercial users there is a POSSIBILITY to submit to one
of the special contracts;
- Commercial usage of BBE is NOT free of charge. Also, a so called
'closed' Bulletin Board System (a system where the user must pay
direct to the SysOp to get full access) is NOT free of charge.
Both types of users MUST register directly after the evaluation
period by filling in the REG_FROM.BBE form and by sending it,
along with the money or cheque, to the address in the header of
this documentation;
- The registration of the BBE-package will license ONE copy for use on
any computer at any one time, as long as the usage confirms to the
type of registration you have done (so NON-commercial usage when you
have a non-commercial license);
- Anyone distributing the BBE-package for any kind of remuneration must
first contact the Author at the address above for authorization.
- You are encouraged to pass a copy of the BBE-package along to your
friends for evaluation. Please encourage them to register their
copy if they find that they can use it;
- When you are a non-commercial user of BBE and you are depending
on the software, you can consider to pay a small amount of
money for service;
- Support on BBE, when used in a non-commercial environment, is
available even when you don't enter a service contract, but the
these users (both commercial users and non-commercial users with
a service contract) have higher priority;
- Problems and suggestions can be entered in the FidoNet <tm> Echomail
conference <tm> called DISP (international). Entering this echo does
not exclude you of the duty to register the BBE-package, though users
who evaluate the product can enter the echo for questions;
- The BBE-package, all programs, the documentation and support-files is
copyrighted 1990 by Robert W. van Hoeven, PO. Box 131, Badhoevedorp
1170AC, Holland. All rights are reserved. You may copy this package
for backup purposes. Also you may copy and share unmodified copies of
the whole package, providing that the copyright notice is reproduced
and included on all copies.
Excluded from this statement are the support-files written by other
authors. Please refer to the documentation of these programs for
copyrights and license agreements;
- Comments, suggestions and bug reports are welcome and will be answered
as soon I have the time to do so. You can send me a letter of leave a
NetMail <tm> message named to Rob Van.hoeven (mind the point) on node
2:512/100 (RA Support, Monster, Holland, SysOp is Reinier de Groot).
When you want to send me normal mail, address it to:
Robert W. van Hoeven, PO. Box 131, 1171 AC Badhoevedorp, Holland;
Also you can enter messages in the FidoNet <tm> DISP Echomail <tm>
area;
NON-Commercial registration
────────────────────────────────────
When you use BBE in a NON-commercial environment you must pay a small
amount of money for a license.
Payment of the registration fee, entitles you to:
- The license for running ONE copy of the BBE-package in a NON-commer-
cial environment on any computer at any one time;
- A diskette with the latest copy of the BBE-package on 5 1/4 or
3 1/2 inch diskette (360/720 Kb);
- A special file to enter the name of the owner (company) in the
header of BBE. This file can be used on subsequent releases, also
those releases obtained from Shareware sources like a BBS. This
file will also unlock the memory drawback on the DOS-shells;
- The license for a NON-commercial environment can not be used in a
other environment than NON-commercial. Upgrading to a 'normal'
commercial license can be done by paying the difference in price;
The license does NOT include any update service as described later
(you only get the next MAJOR for free) nor does it include the 90 days
support contract.
The price for a commercial license is US $ 15,--. Domestic (dutch)
users have to pay Hfl 10,--, but if they send me a diskette and a
addressed mailer and enough stamps for the return, they pay Hfl 5,--.
Commercial registration
────────────────────────────────────
When you use BBE in a commercial environment or when you use BBE on
a so called 'closed' BBS (this is a BBS where the users must pay to
the Sysop to get full access), you must pay for a license to use BBE.
Payment of the registration fee, entitles you to:
- The license for running ONE copy of the BBE-package in a commercial
environment on any computer at any one time;
- A diskette with the latest copy of the BBE-package on 5 1/4 or
3 1/2 inch diskette (360/720 Kb);
- A special file to enter the name of the owner (company) in the
header of BBE. This file can be used on subsequent releases, also
those releases obtained from Shareware sources like a BBS. This
file will also unlock the memory drawback on the DOS-shells;
- The license for a 'closed' BBS can not be used in any other commer-
cial environment than the BBS itself. Upgrading to a 'normal' com-
mercial license can be done by paying the difference in price;
The license does NOT include any update service as described later
(you only get the next MAJOR for free) nor does it include the 90 days
support contract.
The price for a commercial license is US $ 50,-- for a normal
commercial user or US $ 20,-- for a 'closed' BBS.
Support contract
────────────────────────────────────
Both commercial AND non-commercial users can enter a support con-
tract. Paying the fee for a support contract, entitles you to:
- Free support (by Fidonet <tm> Netmail or by mail) for the first 90
days after payment;
- This support consists of answering questions and fixing any program
errors the owner of the support contact submits to me in person.
Only program errors that can be reproduced and that interfere with
the intended use of the program as outlined in the documentation
(BBEDOCEN.DOC) will be fixed. The author can ask you to give some
special data (sometimes on a diskette) to correct the problem and
can ask you to check if you own a valid copy of the BBE-package;
- The author may choose not to fix any problem that is related to
hardware and/or software configurations and that causes one or more
of the programs in the BBE-package not to run correctly. In this
case the author can be asked for a refund of the support contract
for the unused part of the contract, starting the date the problem
was submitted to the author and ending at the end of the 90 day
period;
- BBE can be customized for the usage of the 'communication inter-
rupt'. Normally BBE uses Int 66 for communication interfacing.
Users with 90 day support, can get one different, customized,
version which uses another AVAILABLE interrupt. Users must send
a diskette themself, but the returning of this diskette is in-
cluded in the 90 day support;
- The author makes no other warranties, expressed or implied, and this
warranty is expressly limited to the cost of the support contract
fee;
After paying the support fee, you will receive a written description
on how to enter problems or suggestions.
The price for a support contract is US $ 50,-- for both commercial and
non-commercial users. This does not exclude you from paying for a
lisence.
Update service
────────────────────────────────────
Both commercial AND non-commercial users can enter the update ser-
vice. International users who use BBE commercial or non-commercial
will benefit most of this feature. Paying the fee for update service,
entitles you to:
- Receiving every new release (minor AND major) for the period of
one year or 5 releases (which ever comes first) on diskette
media by first-class Airmail;
- The updates will be send the same day the new release is submitted
to the support BBS (2:512/100 in Holland);
- The diskettes are first-class (no no-name or white diskettes) and
will contain a special diskette label;
The price for update service is US $ 20,-- for 5 1/2 inch (360Kb) dis-
kettes and US $ 30,-- for 3 1/2 inch (720Kb) diskettes.
Paying
────────────────────────────────────
- By postal money order or international money order. Normal cheques
(if they are not EuroCheques) will cost me extra money to transfer,
so add $ 10,-- for transfer if you use such a cheque. Cheques that
can not be collected within a reasonable time, are returned to the
sender;
- EuroCheque written out on :
- Robert W. van Hoeven
Badhoevedorp
- Giro-cheques (only dutch) written out to the name above;
- Sending money directly, but please make sure you send it with
some kind of safety, so you can make sure yourself that I received
the money. When you send money, you can also send money in your
own currency, but make sure to use a valid exchange rate. This is
the exchange rate on the day you send the money to me;
In NO way I can accept credit-card transfers. If you are not sure,
please contact me by normal mail !
Dutch users can also pay in dutch money. Transfer the amount of dutch
money in one of the above ways. Use the exchange rate on the day of
transfer as found in the newspaper of that day).
